We love it when we come across a great new place to eat and when that place is dog friendly then as you can imagine, our love knows no bounds! The Dynamo, a new restaurant that opened in Putney in December is the subject of today’s post and well deserving it is too…
What’s The Dynamo All About?
The Dynamo has opened up on the long empty spot of the old Kitchenette (and before that Café Rouge) on the Putney Bridge Road. I always did wonder why this spot never had a successful eatery there, but with the arrival of the Dynamo, that looks set to change.
Bright, spacious and with super friendly staff, the Dynamo’s raison d’être is to be ‘A Hub for Pizza, Coffee and Cycles’ according to their website. So they forgot to mention dogs in the strapline but we’ll forgive them as dogs are also very much welcome as we found out.
Whether it’s for breakfast, brunch or one of their Sourdough Pizzas available from noon onwards, there’s plenty on the menu to tempt you (plus a few cycling references thrown in for good measure…Stelvio pizza anyone?).
What’s Different About The Dynamo?
Well, firstly it’s an independent restaurant so it’s refreshing to see something unique and different come to Putney. Secondly, it’s a great concept – fantastic food (more on that shortly) and a strong focus on catering to cyclists…bike pump outside for cycling emergencies, a bike hanging bike rack inside the restaurant and a cycle workshop set to open in Spring 2016. They certainly seem to have that one covered.
I’m not sure if dogs (and their owners) were on the original target customer list but, given the location just down the road from Wandsworth Park, it was indeed a wise move to make the Dynamo dog friendly. There’s loads of space inside which means that cyclists, non-cyclists, families, dogs and owners can all co-exist over coffee without feeling like you’re cramping someone else’s style.
3 Good Reasons To Go…
For the food: Well no matter how dog friendly a restaurant, if the food isn’t any good we wouldn’t be recommending it. Fortunately the food at the Dynamo is fantastic. We tried several of the scrumptious items on the menu and they were all just that, scrumptious.

If you’re a cyclist (or a bicycle buff): Firstly, I should point out that I am not. Highlighted by me asking what the ‘Ass Saver’ was on the other menu hanging on the wall, oh well.
If you are, then the bike rack just inside the entrance definitely gets things off to a good start. The fact that a cycling workshop will be opening in Spring 2016 sealed the deal for my partner who is a keen cyclist. In fact, it was the first time I’ve heard him rave about a restaurant in a long time.
If you’re a dog owner: Yup, that’s me and well, we wouldn’t be writing a blog post about them if they didn’t tick that box would we now. Nina also thoroughly recommends.

I’m a huge fan of local interesting businesses like this. I own a bike and a dog so they’re speaking my language.
