Pet Blessing Service: St Botolph-without-Bishopsgate invites dog parents and animal lovers to a dog-friendly animal blessing in the City of London, marking St Francis’s Day with choral music, readings and prayers.
This is an annual service, and as far as the church is aware, it is the only animal blessing held in the City of London. It began when the current Rector, Fr David, arrived with Freddie the labrador, St Botolph’s church dog. The service is always held on the Friday nearest St Francis’s Day. This year it has extra meaning, because 2026 marks the 800th anniversary of the death of St Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals.
The service is short and moving. The choir of St Botolph’s sings special music, and there are readings and prayers. At the heart of it is the blessing of each individual animal together with their human companion, so your dog takes part in the service rather than watching from the side.
All animals and their humans are welcome. There’s no need to book, so you can just turn up, and the church encourages you to bring friends and their pets too. Afterwards, you can stay to chat and meet other animal lovers over refreshments for both humans and animals. Fr David and Freddie look forward to welcoming everyone.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, 03 October 2026, and get ready to join the celebration of Chelsea Dog Day, aday-long celebration of dog-friendly London returns to one of the capital’s most welcoming neighbourhoods, with a dog-themed market, in-store activations and a charity partner all taking part across Chelsea.
The Dog Market returns to Duke of York Square from 10am to 4pm, bringing together a curated selection of dog and lifestyle brands offering treats, accessories and more. Entertainment and activities run throughout the day to keep things lively, and Pets As Therapy will have a team on site sharing the story behind the charity’s volunteer dogs and cats, who visit hospitals, schools and care homes across the UK.
Beyond the square, more than 75 shops, restaurants and hotels across Chelsea join the celebrations with their own dog-friendly touches such as Jo Malone London on King’s Road marks the launch of its Orange & Cedarwood Dog Shampoo with in-store expressive portraits of owner and dog, plus a complimentary engraved collar charm with purchase, from 12pm to 5pm. Otiumberg’s team will hand-make totem bracelets with your dog’s name, ready to wear home in around 15 minutes. Colbert celebrates its regular canine visitors with a limited-edition tea towel by illustrator Nancy Oliver, alongside a complimentary puppaccino and home-made pup-cake. The Trafalgar offers a dedicated Dog Menu, and Needle & Thread pairs branded dog scarves with Prosecco for the humans. Plus lots more activities to be annouced soon!
Whether you’re browsing the market, treating your dog to something new, or simply spending the day exploring together, Chelsea Dog Day gives dog parents plenty of reasons to make a day of it in Chelsea.

The Saltdean Lido Dog Swim 2025 will take place over FOUR weekends in September & October, where dogs can swim to their hearts’ content in the now legendary end-of-season dog swim just outside of Brighton.

Of course, humans can also go along, either as spectators if you don’t plan to actually swim with your dog but to stand on the side, or you can get human swimming tickets if you plan to join your dog in the water.
Saltdean Lido Dog Swim 2026 Sessions & Tickets
The 90-minute sessions are all open sessions (i.e. anyone and any dog can attend). Please note that the breed/type meet-ups listed are NOT exclusive (merely suggestions if your dog wants to meet, or avoid, certain types). The only sessions strictly regulated are the ones for Small Dogs and Large Dogs.
There are sessions at 9am, 11am, 1pm and 3pm every weekend day, with a quiet session at 5pm (limited to 50 dogs, ideal for nervous and/or elderly dogs). New for 2026: tickets are refundable up to 48 hours before your session, and a waitlist is available if your preferred session sells out:

Saltdean Lido will be the spot to enjoy a fun-filled day with your four-legged friends on the last three weekends of September and the first weekend of October. Whether you want to swim in the main pool or just dip toes or paws into the smaller paddling pool, there are plenty of options for dogs of all sizes and swimming abilities! And don’t forget—tickets sell out quickly, so make sure and tell your humans how much you love swimming so they can book your spot!
Note: you will only be able to book a dog swim ticket after selecting a human ticket (human swim or spectator)
Dog Swim Rules:
- For the dog swim ticket, your dog has access to both the main pool and for those less adventurous, the paddling pool (with slide and water spouts)
- You must book a Human ticket (either swimmer or spectator) before the system will allow you to book a Dog ticket
- If you want to swim with your dog you’ll need a human swim ticket, or if you prefer to stand at the poolside and throw a toy, a spectator ticket is fine
- For H&S reasons, under-16s aren’t allowed in the pool. This applies to Humans only!
- Under-16 Humans are welcome with a spectator ticket and can play with you from the poolside
- There is an absolute Zero Tolerance policy towards aggression, so if either you or your Human growl or snarl, you’ll both be asked to leave
- It goes without saying that humans need to pick up after their pups
- You can bring balls or toys as there’s lots of grass to run around on, and there will be a security gate in place to keep everything secure
Saltdean Lido Dog Swim 2025 Ticket Prices:
Once again this year, tickets are very reasonable – £12.20 for human or dog swim tickets, and £5.30 for spectator tickets, with all funds raised from the Saltdean Lido Dog Swim going to support the upkeep of this beautiful Grade II listed art deco lido. Your tickets also include free parking in the Lido car park – just give the name on your tickets to Security.

Get ready for one of South London’s most loved dog events as Streatham Doggy Splash Day returns this Autumn, for not one but THREE Doggy Splash Days!
The first is on Saturday 19th September. Buttercup Bus will be on site serving up their fresh crepes, while the monthly market is also running at The Rookery opposite, and the Inkspot Brewery has its Shutters Up event.
On Sunday 27th September we have our Disco Edition splash day – just slightly livelier than normal, with our dog-friendly DJs spinning up some beats for your beagles and choons for your chihuahuas. Shiny disco accessories are very welcome (both of you) to sparklify your photo opportunities.
And Bavarian Boy is back, with German sausages, beer and more for the humans.
Then on Saturday 3rd October it’s our Oktoberfest Edition – again with a great food menu and some proper German beer from Bavarian Boy. There will be appropriate live music too to encourage the Oktoberfest spirit – so why not bring your Schnauzer for a Schnitzel and your Cavalier for a Bier!
All of them are really the same Doggy Splash Day at heart though, centred on a huge pool of some of the splashiest water available – suitable for everydog, whether they want a little paddle in the shallows or to spend hours charging through the middle of it.
There will also be treats, snacks, puppuccinos and more from Bailey’s Canine Kitchen and The Mud Room.
And a ball pit to rummage in, and bubbles to chase, and loads of tennis balls to fetch, and you can even have a beer! Everything for good girls and boys!
The day runs across four overlapping sessions of two and a quarter hours each, timed to keep things busy without getting too crowded (the organisers may briefly close the gate to new arrivals if the pool gets full).
All proceeds go to Friends of Streatham Common, the registered charity keeping the pool running into the 2027 season and beyond.

Churches across London hold pet blessings each autumn around 4 October, the feast day of St Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals. St Mary’s is marking it on the Saturday. Every pet is welcome, whether they arrive on four paws, in a carrier or as a photo. The photo option is a kind touch if your dog finds busy spaces a bit much, or they have gone over the rainbow bridge.
St Mary’s describes itself as a warm and inclusive Church of England community. It welcomes everyone, including LGBTQIA+ people, disabled people and people of all ethnicities, cultures and backgrounds.

The special pet blessing service at St John the Baptist Holland Park in London is held to mark the Feast of St Francis the patron saint of animals (the Feast of St Francis is on October 04).
This annual service at the beautiful Grade 1 St John the Baptist Church is the only well-established animal blessing in London and is truly a wonderful occasion for four-legged friends, whatever their species as any pet is welcome. Read our feature on the Pet Blessing Service which we were lucky enough to be able to attend in the company of many dogs and even one very brave cat!
This year, the Pet Blessing Services take place on Sunday 03 October at 4pm and Monday 04 October at 4pm. There will be tea and cake for the humans afterwards so both people and pets can socialise, after what will no doubt be an emotional experience for each pet owner there. We can highly recommend this truly special event.
As St John’s is a dog-friendly London Church, pets are also welcome at the weekly Sunday service (but please note that there is not a pet blessing at the regular service).

Chiswick Cinema Dog-friendly Policy
For the special dog-friendly screenings, signposted on the website and in person, guests are welcome to bring their dogs with them into the screen (one dog per adult, dogs go free).
· We recognize that these screenings should not affect the broader use and the enjoyment of other customers and as such we have outlined these policies.
· Should a dog adversely affect the enjoyment of others, our staff team will step in, if necessary, request that the owner and the dog leave the premises. This is in line with the other Terms and Conditions of the cinema.
· All other Terms and Conditions and Terms of Admission apply as usual.
· To ensure that customers who may not wish to watch a film when dogs are present are fully aware of which screening they are booking, all Dog-friendly Screenings will be clearly advertised as such.
· All seats that are used by dogs in the screen will be covered with a blanket by the cinema, and the blankets will be laundered between screenings separate from other cinema materials.
· The screen will be fully cleaned after a dog screening, with all seats thoroughly cleaned!
· During the screenings, the cinema will provide bowls of water for the dogs, used only for this purpose. Beyond small treats or snacks purchased at the cinema, dogs cannot be fed in the screen.
· In the incredibly unlikely event a dog fouls inside the premises, the procedure for ‘cleaning up bodily fluids’ is to be implemented; the owner can be encouraged to assist.

The special pet blessing service at St John the Baptist Holland Park in London is held to mark the Feast of St Francis the patron saint of animals (the Feast of St Francis is on October 04).
This annual service at the beautiful Grade 1 St John the Baptist Church is the only well-established animal blessing in London and is truly a wonderful occasion for four-legged friends, whatever their species as any pet is welcome. Read our feature on the Pet Blessing Service which we were lucky enough to be able to attend in the company of many dogs and even one very brave cat!
This year, the Pet Blessing Services take place on Sunday 03 October at 4pm and Monday 04 October at 4pm. There will be tea and cake for the humans afterwards so both people and pets can socialise, after what will no doubt be an emotional experience for each pet owner there. We can highly recommend this truly special event.
As St John’s is a dog-friendly London Church, pets are also welcome at the weekly Sunday service (but please note that there is not a pet blessing at the regular service).

Dog-friendly Flower Arranging Workshop: a relaxed session at King’s Dog Daycare where you and your dog can make a bouquet together in a laid-back, creative setting.
This is a beginner-friendly workshop — no experience needed, just a willingness to get stuck in and meet other dog parents over flowers and coffee. Bring your dog along and enjoy the afternoon together while you arrange your own bouquet to take home.
The workshop includes a bouquet to take home, any drink from the café, dog treats, a dog toy, a puppuccino and puppy playtime, so there’s plenty for both of you to enjoy.

Dogs are welcome to join their humans through the full exhibition, from mirror rooms and gravity-defying illusions to oversized props built for photos. Pet Blessing Service: St Botolph-without-Bishopsgate invites dog parents and animal lovers to a dog-friendly animal blessing in the City of London, marking St Francis’s Day with choral music, readings and prayers.
This is an annual service, and as far as the church is aware, it is the only animal blessing held in the City of London. It began when the current Rector, Fr David, arrived with Freddie the labrador, St Botolph’s church dog. The service is always held on the Friday nearest St Francis’s Day. This year it has extra meaning, because 2026 marks the 800th anniversary of the death of St Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals.
The service is short and moving. The choir of St Botolph’s sings special music, and there are readings and prayers. At the heart of it is the blessing of each individual animal together with their human companion, so your dog takes part in the service rather than watching from the side.
All animals and their humans are welcome. There’s no need to book, so you can just turn up, and the church encourages you to bring friends and their pets too. Afterwards, you can stay to chat and meet other animal lovers over refreshments for both humans and animals. Fr David and Freddie look forward to welcoming everyone.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, 03 October 2026, and get ready to join the celebration of Chelsea Dog Day, aday-long celebration of dog-friendly London returns to one of the capital’s most welcoming neighbourhoods, with a dog-themed market, in-store activations and a charity partner all taking part across Chelsea.
The Dog Market returns to Duke of York Square from 10am to 4pm, bringing together a curated selection of dog and lifestyle brands offering treats, accessories and more. Entertainment and activities run throughout the day to keep things lively, and Pets As Therapy will have a team on site sharing the story behind the charity’s volunteer dogs and cats, who visit hospitals, schools and care homes across the UK.
Beyond the square, more than 75 shops, restaurants and hotels across Chelsea join the celebrations with their own dog-friendly touches such as Jo Malone London on King’s Road marks the launch of its Orange & Cedarwood Dog Shampoo with in-store expressive portraits of owner and dog, plus a complimentary engraved collar charm with purchase, from 12pm to 5pm. Otiumberg’s team will hand-make totem bracelets with your dog’s name, ready to wear home in around 15 minutes. Colbert celebrates its regular canine visitors with a limited-edition tea towel by illustrator Nancy Oliver, alongside a complimentary puppaccino and home-made pup-cake. The Trafalgar offers a dedicated Dog Menu, and Needle & Thread pairs branded dog scarves with Prosecco for the humans. Plus lots more activities to be annouced soon!

Of course, humans can also go along, either as spectators if you don’t plan to actually swim with your dog but to stand on the side, or you can get human swimming tickets if you plan to join your dog in the water.
Saltdean Lido Dog Swim 2026 Sessions & Tickets
The 90-minute sessions are all open sessions (i.e. anyone and any dog can attend). Please note that the breed/type meet-ups listed are NOT exclusive (merely suggestions if your dog wants to meet, or avoid, certain types). The only sessions strictly regulated are the ones for Small Dogs and Large Dogs.
There are sessions at 9am, 11am, 1pm and 3pm every weekend day, with a quiet session at 5pm (limited to 50 dogs, ideal for nervous and/or elderly dogs). New for 2026: tickets are refundable up to 48 hours before your session, and a waitlist is available if your preferred session sells out:

Saltdean Lido will be the spot to enjoy a fun-filled day with your four-legged friends on the last three weekends of September and the first weekend of October. Whether you want to swim in the main pool or just dip toes or paws into the smaller paddling pool, there are plenty of options for dogs of all sizes and swimming abilities! And don’t forget—tickets sell out quickly, so make sure and tell your humans how much you love swimming so they can book your spot!
Note: you will only be able to book a dog swim ticket after selecting a human ticket (human swim or spectator)
Dog Swim Rules:
- For the dog swim ticket, your dog has access to both the main pool and for those less adventurous, the paddling pool (with slide and water spouts)
- You must book a Human ticket (either swimmer or spectator) before the system will allow you to book a Dog ticket
- If you want to swim with your dog you’ll need a human swim ticket, or if you prefer to stand at the poolside and throw a toy, a spectator ticket is fine
- For H&S reasons, under-16s aren’t allowed in the pool. This applies to Humans only!
- Under-16 Humans are welcome with a spectator ticket and can play with you from the poolside
- There is an absolute Zero Tolerance policy towards aggression, so if either you or your Human growl or snarl, you’ll both be asked to leave
- It goes without saying that humans need to pick up after their pups
- You can bring balls or toys as there’s lots of grass to run around on, and there will be a security gate in place to keep everything secure

Once again this year, tickets are very reasonable – £12.20 for human or dog swim tickets, and £5.30 for spectator tickets, with all funds raised from the Saltdean Lido Dog Swim going to support the upkeep of this beautiful Grade II listed art deco lido. Your tickets also include free parking in the Lido car park – just give the name on your tickets to Security.

Get ready for one of South London’s most loved dog events as Streatham Doggy Splash Day returns this Autumn, for not one but THREE Doggy Splash Days!
The first is on Saturday 19th September. Buttercup Bus will be on site serving up their fresh crepes, while the monthly market is also running at The Rookery opposite, and the Inkspot Brewery has its Shutters Up event.
On Sunday 27th September we have our Disco Edition splash day – just slightly livelier than normal, with our dog-friendly DJs spinning up some beats for your beagles and choons for your chihuahuas. Shiny disco accessories are very welcome (both of you) to sparklify your photo opportunities.
And Bavarian Boy is back, with German sausages, beer and more for the humans.
Then on Saturday 3rd October it’s our Oktoberfest Edition – again with a great food menu and some proper German beer from Bavarian Boy. There will be appropriate live music too to encourage the Oktoberfest spirit – so why not bring your Schnauzer for a Schnitzel and your Cavalier for a Bier!
All of them are really the same Doggy Splash Day at heart though, centred on a huge pool of some of the splashiest water available – suitable for everydog, whether they want a little paddle in the shallows or to spend hours charging through the middle of it.
There will also be treats, snacks, puppuccinos and more from Bailey’s Canine Kitchen and The Mud Room.
And a ball pit to rummage in, and bubbles to chase, and loads of tennis balls to fetch, and you can even have a beer! Everything for good girls and boys!
The day runs across four overlapping sessions of two and a quarter hours each, timed to keep things busy without getting too crowded (the organisers may briefly close the gate to new arrivals if the pool gets full).
All proceeds go to Friends of Streatham Common, the registered charity keeping the pool running into the 2027 season and beyond.

The special pet blessing service at St John the Baptist Holland Park in London is held to mark the Feast of St Francis the patron saint of animals (the Feast of St Francis is on October 04).
This annual service at the beautiful Grade 1 St John the Baptist Church is the only well-established animal blessing in London and is truly a wonderful occasion for four-legged friends, whatever their species as any pet is welcome. Read our feature on the Pet Blessing Service which we were lucky enough to be able to attend in the company of many dogs and even one very brave cat!
This year, the Pet Blessing Services take place on Sunday 03 October at 4pm and Monday 04 October at 4pm. There will be tea and cake for the humans afterwards so both people and pets can socialise, after what will no doubt be an emotional experience for each pet owner there. We can highly recommend this truly special event.
As St John’s is a dog-friendly London Church, pets are also welcome at the weekly Sunday service (but please note that there is not a pet blessing at the regular service).

For the special dog-friendly screenings, signposted on the website and in person, guests are welcome to bring their dogs with them into the screen (one dog per adult, dogs go free).
· We recognize that these screenings should not affect the broader use and the enjoyment of other customers and as such we have outlined these policies.
· Should a dog adversely affect the enjoyment of others, our staff team will step in, if necessary, request that the owner and the dog leave the premises. This is in line with the other Terms and Conditions of the cinema.
· All other Terms and Conditions and Terms of Admission apply as usual.
· To ensure that customers who may not wish to watch a film when dogs are present are fully aware of which screening they are booking, all Dog-friendly Screenings will be clearly advertised as such.
· All seats that are used by dogs in the screen will be covered with a blanket by the cinema, and the blankets will be laundered between screenings separate from other cinema materials.
· The screen will be fully cleaned after a dog screening, with all seats thoroughly cleaned!
· During the screenings, the cinema will provide bowls of water for the dogs, used only for this purpose. Beyond small treats or snacks purchased at the cinema, dogs cannot be fed in the screen.
· In the incredibly unlikely event a dog fouls inside the premises, the procedure for ‘cleaning up bodily fluids’ is to be implemented; the owner can be encouraged to assist.

Pet Blessing at St Philip’s Earls Court, for the Feast of Francis of Assisi: St Philip’s on Earl’s Court Road welcomes all creatures, great and small, to an afternoon service celebrating St Francis.
You can bring your pet, bring a photo of your pet, or simply come along and celebrate with others. The service is for anyone who loves animals. It’s also livestreamed on Zoom, which is a nice option if your dog is happier at home.
This is a church that clearly loves animals, as it even has its own church cat.

Pet Blessing Service at St Mary Magdalene Wandsworth Common: A service where furry, feathered, scaly and even slimy friends are all invited to be blessed.
The church’s own guest list covers dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, mice, chickens, parrots and snails. So whatever shares your home, there’s a place for them. Pet blessings are held across London each autumn to mark the feast of St Francis of Assisi on 4 October, and they’re a chance to give thanks for the animals who are part of the family.

The special pet blessing service at St John the Baptist Holland Park in London is held to mark the Feast of St Francis the patron saint of animals (the Feast of St Francis is on October 04).
This annual service at the beautiful Grade 1 St John the Baptist Church is the only well-established animal blessing in London and is truly a wonderful occasion for four-legged friends, whatever their species as any pet is welcome. Read our feature on the Pet Blessing Service which we were lucky enough to be able to attend in the company of many dogs and even one very brave cat!
This year, the Pet Blessing Services take place on Sunday 03 October at 4pm and Monday 04 October at 4pm. There will be tea and cake for the humans afterwards so both people and pets can socialise, after what will no doubt be an emotional experience for each pet owner there. We can highly recommend this truly special event.
As St John’s is a dog-friendly London Church, pets are also welcome at the weekly Sunday service (but please note that there is not a pet blessing at the regular service).

Dog-friendly Flower Arranging Workshop: a relaxed session at King’s Dog Daycare where you and your dog can make a bouquet together in a laid-back, creative setting.
This is a beginner-friendly workshop — no experience needed, just a willingness to get stuck in and meet other dog parents over flowers and coffee. Bring your dog along and enjoy the afternoon together while you arrange your own bouquet to take home.
The workshop includes a bouquet to take home, any drink from the café, dog treats, a dog toy, a puppuccino and puppy playtime, so there’s plenty for both of you to enjoy.

Every Paws & Pours follows the same thoughtful format. You’ll enjoy a 45-minute guided wine tasting, led by the Humble Grape team, featuring four organic and sustainable wines from independent producers. Each wine is paired with a dog breed, adding a playful, light-hearted twist that makes the tasting feel fun and accessible, whether you’re a seasoned wine lover or just enjoy discovering something new.
After the tasting, there’s no rush to leave. Guests are encouraged to stick around with a glass in hand, relax, chat, and meet fellow dog owners in a calm, social setting.
