Schnauzers and Friends Walk September 2018

The Schnauzers and Friends Walk is back in Beckenham Palace Park for the next walk on Saturday 8th September.

The group meets in the 1st field of Ravensbourn Avenue and the walk will start at 10am promptly so arrive in advance.

The walk goes across two fields then up over the bridge to the golf course, along the old course. The group heads to the coffee shop for a drink and group photo before heading back.

The event organiser requests that a small donation is made to Schnauzerfest if you would like to attend the Schnauzers and Friends Walk September 2018 edition.

The Dog Olympix 2018 is a fantastic idea for a fundraiser for an Outdoor Drinking Water Fountain for people and dogs in Whittington Park, London N19. £6K is needed to fund the fountain and labour costs. Islington council are making an application on behalf of this and other parks to the London Mayor’s outdoor water drinking fund, so The Dog Olympix 2018 is looking to raise as much as it can in one day towards a fountain for Whittington Park.

The Dog Olympix 2018 is on the 8th September 2018 and consists of three games:
Catch the Ball
Agility and Obedience course
The Relay

Anyone with a dog can register and enter. Dogs and owners can come along any Sunday in Whittington Park at 11am for an informal training session and to have a go  / try out the course and skills needed. See The Dog Olympix 2018 website for more info: http://archwaydogs.uk/dogolympix/

Semifinals
Sunday 2nd September @ 11am in Whittington park. This will be an informal session on a smaller circuit than the finals on 2nd September. Anyone can enter and join in the practice sessions and semifinals. However, only 20 dogs can be chosen to take part in the games on 8th September.

To be selected, you must meet the standard of working your dog off lead for the games.  Come along on Sundays mornings to prepare and practise and register to take part. You can also email to  register your interest. There will be a nominal registration fee to take part in the games.

Sue Evans from The Alpha Dog Club will be the judge for the 3 games along with Highgate vet Allan Rapley. The Blue cross will have a medic van there to health check dogs and offer free microchipping. All dogs must be on leads.

There’s going to be a Neverland Beach Club Sausage Dog Invasion by London Sausages on 8th September!

If you’d like to join the sausage fun (madness) then you need to book a ticket.

For more info on the Neverland Beach Club in Fulham see our review – there is a bar and food stalls for the humans, dogs will need to bring their own refreshments.

Doga Mahny are running a one-off Dog Yoga taster session for you and your Dog in this Doga Class at Pomona’s on September 9th. The class is designed for newcomers – owners and dogs to experience the benefits of practicing yoga together. Join Doga Mahny for a 90 min yoga class in which you’ll get the chance to bond with the dogs through yoga meditation, breathing and some awesome yoga / Doga poses.

In the Doga Class at Pomona’s, you will engage in relaxing and invigorating yoga practice alongside your dog, while bonding and strengthening your relationship. You’ll learn new yoga positions and practices that you can take home and experience with your pooch every day! This class is a one of a kind activity that your dog will love too!

The benefits of Doga are listed with excellent reasoning. Increasing mindfulness, trust, deep sleep and reducing anxiety for both you and your dog can lead to a nurturing, fulfilling life together.

Beginner yoga students are welcome! The session runs for 90 minutes, it’s a Hatha / kundalini class in which you can interact with your dog or someone else’s! If you do bring your dog along, then they must be social, vaccinated neutered and insured.

Please note, yoga mats are not provided. PLEASE DO BRING YOUR OWN MAT!

Victoria Park Dog Show 2018

Paws at the ready, All Dogs Matter and Tower Hamlets Dog Warden service are back at Victoria Park for the Victoria Park Dog Show on 9th September!

With stalls to satisfy even the most fashion-conscience pooch, a Raffle and the chance to meet some of the  All Dogs Matter dogs looking for homes!

Has your dog got what it takes to be Top Dog? REGISTRATION OPENS AT 11:00AM and there will be limited space per category (see flyer for categories and timings) so pre-register to save your spot.

If you’re planning to go to the All Dogs Matter Victoria Park Dog Show on September 9th, then make sure to stop by the Portrait Pals Live Illustrated Pet Portraits at the Victoria Park Dog Show stall!

Portrait Pals will have a stall with a team of illustrators creating live drawings of pets starting from just £10. All proceeds go towards All Dogs Matter’s mission to combat dog homelessness in the UK. Help Portrait Pals reach their objective of raising £750 which will provide kennelling costs and urgent veterinary care for elderly and sick dogs.

And your dog doesn’t even need to be there to participate in the Live Illustrated Pet Portraits at the Victoria Park Dog Show! Whether you want to bring your dog for a live-sitting or bring a photo of your family pet for a tribute, our team will create a unique and affordable piece of art that you can cherish forever and all for a fantastic cause!

Friends of Streatham Common are hosting Scruffs Fun Dog Show on Streatham Common on 9th September 2018.

Scruffs Dog Show on Streatham Common takes place on the Common opposite the cafe on September 9th from 12.00 until 5.00pm.

The dog show registration opens 12pm and entries are £1. All proceeds will go to Friends of Streatham Common and Pets as Therapy.

The theme for the Scruffs Dog Show on Streatham Common is fairy tales, so all those little red riding hoods, goldilocks and humpty dumptys please come on down!

The annual fun show for dogs of any age, shape or size, now in its 20th year! There are lots of categories to enter…see the event flyer for more info.

Puppy Brunch Outdoor Cinema continues for September at The Exhibit Balham with screenings of The Fox and the Hound on September 9th and September 30th. Puppy Brunch Outdoor Cinema kicks off with an 11am brunch followed by 1:30pm screening. For the dogs, there will be complimentary bottomless doggy treats.

This is an exclusive screening in the outdoor cinema in the Garden Terrace for humans and their pups.

The Fox and the Hound | Film Synopsis

The pawsome Dog & Human Paddle Boarding on The Thames experience is back for 2018!

We did it last year and can highly recommend it  – check out what we got up to in our Dog & Human  Paddle Boarding blog post to see what it’s like.

The trip is for up to 12 people + dogs. The session lasts for 3hrs starting from Active 360 by Kew Bridge – paddling out & back with the tide, finishing at Kew!

The cost of each dog/human team is £55 including instruction. The price also includes the rental of a Ruffwear Dog life-jacket if required!

Please wear suitable clothing and footwear. You shouldn’t fall in but bring a towel just in case! Let us know if you would like to purchase a Ruffwear life jacket for your dog and we will order one for you within 48 hours.
