Today, 14th January is Dress Up Your Pet Day. The idea being that it is a fun day to celebrate your pet, give them some special attention and also promote pet rescue and adoption. Whilst Dress Up Your Pet Day is mostly celebrated in the US, more and more pet owners in the UK are joining in the festivities. As you can see from pictures being sent in to local press, it’s not just about dogs either!
The Dogvine Crew aren’t keen on dressing up. Their first experience of dressing up was for the Wordless Wednesday – Santa & his Helper post and I think their expressions say it all. So I think I have to just face facts, they are just not those kind of dogs.
However, there is one picture of one of my dogs dressed up which always makes me smile. During the World Cup last year, Moleque was staying with our great pet-sitters who are Argentinian, and you may or may not know about the ongoing love-hate relationship between the Brazilians and Argentinians. Well, it seems the Argentinians wasted no time at all in trying to convert (Brazilian) Moleque over to their side of the border.

This picture made me laugh (a lot). I also love this picture because Moleque is such an active dog and if he was going to be dressed up, I think this would be his outfit of choice. Just next time in a Brazilian Football Shirt instead. What do you think?

That picture makes me laugh too. He looks like such a natural there!

He does, doesn’t he Cathy!
Haha, excellent picture of Moleque! Football all the way, I say!! Our pups wore German Football outfits during the World Cup, since they’re half German, half American 😉 They don’t mind being dressed up as long as tasty treats are involved (Missy) and fun games with balls (Buzz – he LOVES to play fetch with his beloved chuck-it ball).

International pups rock we say! Moleque loves his chuck-it balls too…I love them as they’re the only ones he doesn’t manage to destroy!
Ditto! They are indestructible 🙂
The futbol jersey looks pretty natural! *wags* – Gilligan from WagsAhoy.com

Thanks Gilligan, wags to you too!
Moleque looks like a natural soccer player, no matter which side he’s on.

Thanks Sharon, he does doesn’t he!
A true soccer star!!! I bet you are a ball hog!!

BOL…a total ball hog!
That’s a great photo….I love the pose! Our girls don’t like to dress up but our young pup Luke is pretty good about it. One time I did an elf hat he wasn’t as thrilled (plus he’s young enough still he just wants to play with everything I put on him), but he’s great about shirts and such. I’ll try new things slowly so that hopefully he doesn’t decide he doesn’t like it after all!

Thanks! If there’s a ball involved Moleque’s more likely to go along with it. Belinha and Nina aren’t so keen but can be persuaded if there’s food involved. Taking things slowly sounds like a good plan!
