It’s May madness this month as London warms up, so does the lineup of London dog events and dog-friendly things to do. With 50+ events on the calendar so far, plus many of London’s dog-friendly venues opening their summer spaces, May is a month that signals the start of summer and we can’t wait. So to help you plan your pup’s social life, we’ve put together a handy round-up of ‘50 Dog-friendly Events And Things To Do In May‘, organized by activity type rather than by what’s on each weekend. And don’t worry, if you prefer the regular chronological date order, you can still see this on the London Dog Events Calendar.
Puppers prepare yourselves for your doggy social diaries to be booked out now that Spring has sprung, dog show season is starting, dog-friendly rooftop venues have opened their doors and doggos can take advantage of two bank holiday weekends this month as well as lots going on in the capital. So here it is, our guide to dog-friendly events and things to do in May. Just click on any of the event links for more details….and enjoy!

One of London’s best rooftop bars, Savage Garden, has gone barking mad by introducing the special monthly ‘Savage Garden Rooftop Dog Brunch’ due to popular demand.
*** Updated, read our review of the Savage Garden Dog Brunch here ***
Dubbed as London’s wildest sky-high destination, Savage Garden, brings decadent décor, jaw-dropping views, dramatic cocktails and savage menus to Tower Hill. Located atop the DoubleTree by Hilton, the ethos is focused on the unexpected. Two terraces provide 360-degree views of the London skyline including The Shard, Tower of London, The Gherkin and St. Paul’s Cathedral.
Guests have a wide variety of savagely good brunch dishes to choose from off the a la carte menu that is as far removed from traditional brunch items as possible. Panko chicken cutlet, bacon and radish salad, cranberry, caper, sriracha mayo and a sunny-side fried egg, as well as bourbon-glazed beef short rib, charred sourdough and poached eggs’, are tipped to be some of the favourites.
Cocktails are abundant, with bloody mary ‘red snappers’ and zesty mimosas all making an appearance. Pooches will receive a Savage pupcake baked with delicious dog-friendly ingredients.
Bring your pooch to this sky-high destination and enjoy a day out with your best friend. This brunch is definitely not going to the dogs.
And if you don’t have four legs, you can still come and enjoy the usual Play Brunch that is on offer and make some new furry friends.
The Savage Garden Rooftop Dog Brunch takes place from 12pm until 4pm with reservations at 12pm, 1pm or 2pm. To reserve your table visit www.savagegarden.co.uk or call 020 7709 1043.

Fetch & Follow May Workshop | Fetch & Follow are excited to announce the launch of the Fetch & Follow Workshops a new series of events for dog owners. For each workshop Fetch & follow will be teaming up with a different industry expert covering key topics, offering advice and tips on each subject. With this in mind, the first workshop will be held on Sunday 12th May with Ciara from Vet in the City in the Gardens of Gossamer Gardens (Hackney) and focussed on ‘Welcoming a new dog’ to your family.
The workshop is for people who have just welcomed home a new dog (puppy, adult or rescue) or are about to, and what they should expect during their first few months together. The workshop will cover what essentials you really need during the first couple of months along with tips and advice on everything from toilet training to getting the dog familiar to new places
The aim is to help new dog owners feel more comfortable in what they can come to expect during those first few months together. This is a crucial time in terms of development and for a new dog and new owner can become quite taunting. An advocate for holistic pet wellbeing, Vet in the City Ciara will also be able to answer further questions guests may have in this relaxed, informal environment.
The workshop will be taking place on Sunday 12th May at 11 am.

Dog Yoga Class: if you love dogs and yoga you are the paw-fect candidate to join this yoga session hosted by the UK founder of DOGA.
This is a 90 min yoga class in which you’ll get the chance to bond with YOUR DOG through yoga meditation, breathing and some awesome yoga / Doga poses.
Doga was a humorous discovery by innovative yoga expert, Mahny Djahanguiri, created when she explored the interconnectedness between her and Robbie (her pooch).
Doga has taken the world by storm with Mahny and Robbie showing off their skills on the Jimmy Kimmel Show, The Alan Titchmarsh Show, BBC News and CBS News.
In this class, you will engage in relaxing and invigorating yoga practice alongside your dog, while bonding and strengthening your relationship. You’ll learn new yoga positions and practices that you can take home and experience with your pooch every day! This class is a one of a kind activity that your dog will love too!
The benefits of Doga are listed with excellent reasoning. Increasing mindfulness, trust, deep sleep and reducing anxiety for both you and your dog can lead to a nurturing, fulfilling life together.
Beginner yoga students are welcome! The session runs for 90 minutes, it’s a Hatha / kundalini class in which you can interact with your dog or someone else’s!
Doga is open to everybody, whether you have a dog or not however should non dog owners want to purchase a ticket we cannot guarantee a dog. If you do bring your dog along, then they must be social, vaccinated neutered and insured.
Dog Yoga Class T&C’s / Health & Safety:
- All guests are required to bring their own yoga mat.
- All owners will need to send an updated scan of vaccination / health certificate plus short bio / description of each dog to doga@dogamahny.co.uk Owners will be asked to sign a waiver at the beginning of each class
- All participants must arrive 15 earlier to prepare for their doggie date.
- Large and small dogs are suitable for Doga. (Please note: All dogs must be social, neutered and vaccinated, puppies over 6 months and happy to be off lead in an enclosed enviroment with new dogs)
- This is a family event, therefore, children are welcome to bring their family dog. Dogs will be off lead for the duration of the 90 min session.
Tickets are £25 for a Single Ticket for you & Your Dog ( or without Dog ) or £30 for tickets for 2 people and dogs (or without dogs ).

Event Details
Run The Pack Epping Forest – Running with your dog is a fantastic way to keep fit and have fun. Also known as canicross, it’s an exciting and fast growing sport.
Join us for a run through Epping Forest. Choose between 5km or 10km.
We run in groups, led by a pack leader and set off in waves. Our rule is ‘no dog left behind’. It’s first and foremost about having fun – nobody is too slow! For those looking for a personal best this might not be the event for you, but you’re more than welcome (we’ll provide you with a map).
We’ll kick off at 9am on Sunday 26th May. Every pooch will receive a doggy bag packed full of healthy treats when they cross the ‘finish line’, and there’ll be prizes thanks to our incredible sponsors.
– All abilities welcome – new to canicross or regular runners
– Organised entirely by volunteers
– We hold 4 meetups a year, Sep-May (avoiding the hot summer months)
A few things to think about:
– If this is the first time you’ll be running with your dog, you may want to consult your Vet.
– Dogs must be fully mature to run. Typically this is at least 12 months old for smaller dogs and 18 months for larger.
– Maximum 2 dogs per runner.
– We’ll start at 9am. Please arrive in good time. Your dog will want a sniff.
– We recommend dogs run in a canicross harness but a regular, non-restrictive harness is also OK. No leads on collars.
– We recommend humans run with a waist belt and bungee lead for your own comfort and safety. If you don’t have either of these please let us know as we have spares for you to borrow. Email runthepackldn@gmail.com
– The event is on-lead. We can’t accept any off lead dogs.
– Please bring water and poo bags. You are responsible for your dogs hydration and picking up after your pooch.
– Run in appropriate trainers and comfortable clothes. Parts of the route may be a little muddy.
– You must be in control of your dog. We are inclusive (canicross can be a great outlet for dogs with anxiety or other issues), but please let us know if your dog likes a bit more space.
– We run in all weathers. Join us even if it looks like rain!
Check out the following websites for more canicross information, including hints and tips:
– DogFit, https://dogfit.co.uk/
– Canicross The Kennel Club, https://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/activities/canicross/
If you have any questions, please do get in touch: runthepackldn@gmail.com
Run The Pack Epping Forest tickets are free, we simply ask you to donate what you can to secure your place. All money raised will be donated to Chilterns Dog Rescue Society (CDRS). Please give generously.
CDRS is an independent rescue and rehoming shelter in Hertfordshire. The charity refuses to put dogs down, provides extensive veterinary care and training for dogs that need it and gives a second chance to hundreds of dogs every year.

CRAFT BEER + CAKE! It’s possibly the greatest idea we’ve ever had. For one day only we are transforming Clerkenwell into a village fete and inviting you to bring along your own craft beer baking creations to be judged in The Great BrewDog Bake Off May 2019!
Round 1 is open to all cakes, biscuits, muffins, cupcakes etc… the more creative the better! The only rule is all bakes submitted MUST contain craft beer.
Round 2 is a special round strictly for DOG CAKE! Again biscuits/other treats are all welcome as long as they’re home baked. No beer in these please – they must be safe to be eaten by doggies. This round will be judged by very special guest Hippo P Thomas the official Clerkenwell pug.
There will be Brew Bucks and prizes up for grabs for the winners, and following the competition, we’ll be selling all entries to raise money for Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.
***The Great BrewDog Bakeoff May 2019 Free entry // Bar opens 12pm // Judging begins 3pm***
PLUS:
Garden party decor

Chelsea in Bloom 2019 | Chelsea’s annual floral art show will be back in town from 20-25 May 2019 taking over Kings Road, Pavillion Road, Duke of York Square and Sloane Street with breath-taking floral displays.
Produced by Cadogan in association with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), the annual competition has grown dramatically each year, with Chelsea’s best retailers, restaurants and hotels adorning themselves with creative designs to compete for the coveted awards.
WHAT IS THE CHELSEA IN BLOOM 2019 THEME?
2019’s theme is ‘Under the Sea’. The wonderful underwater world provides a wealth of inspiration and the need to conserve and protect our oceans is increasingly in the spotlight. The competition will see participants showcasing floral displays, each reflecting their own unique interpretation of the theme.
HOW ARE THE WINNERS CHOSEN?
The displays will be judged by an expert panel, with the winners being announced on Tuesday 21 May. The People’s Champion Award will be chosen by open voting via this website. Voting will close at midnight on Thursday 23 and the winner announced on Friday 24 May.
This is a great event to attend with dogs as it’s all outdoors in Chelsea (so dog-friendly) and the floral displays make for beautiful photo backdrops – see our blog from last year to get more of an idea.
Check out the Chelsea in Bloom website for more details of what’s in store and the displays to be seen.

Event Details
Greenwich Picturehouse Dog-friendly Cinema ‘Pick of the Litter’ – Pick of the Litter follows a litter of puppies from the moment they’re born and begin their quest to become guide dogs for the blind. Cameras follow these pups through an intense two-year odyssey as they train to become dogs whose ultimate responsibility is to protect their blind partners from harm. Along the way, these remarkable animals rely on a community of dedicated individuals who train them to do amazing, life-changing things in the service of their human. The stakes are high and not every dog can make the cut. Only the best of the best. The pick of the litter.
With deft storytelling skill, directors Dana Nachman and Don Hardy (the two previously co-directed the feature docs The Human Experiment, Witch Hunt, and Love Hate Love) introduce us to a group of unique canine characters along with their human counterparts. Pick of the Litter is a wonderful reminder of the extraordinary relationships we have with our dogs, especially those that we work beside each day.
Picturehouse Greenwich are happy for you to bring your dog along to this special dog-friendly screening (you’re welcome without a dog too). Before the screening there are a few things to consider:
If you attend this screening with a dog, you’ll be issued with a fleece blanket to cover the seat used by the dog or to use as a rug if the dog sits on the floor. During the screenings, we will provide bowls of water around the screen. We will leave lighting levels a little higher than usual during the screening and lower the volume of the soundtrack.
Please be aware that we reduce capacity when offering ‘dog-friendly’ screenings, so there may be fewer tickets than usual. We limit dogs to: one dog to one adult. For further information, see dog-friendly screening policy in our cinema.

Dog-friendly Events And Things To Do In May – Summer Vibes
Some of our favourite dog-friendly summer venues have now opened their rather spectacular spaces for the season so we had to give them a mention…
That would be in no ‘paw’-ticular order the Rooftop Film Club and Bussey Rooftop Bar – you can read our review here and the Neverland Fulham Beach Club – read all about it here. Aside from fabulous summer vibes, they all bring something special and unique to London’s dog-friendly scene and rest assured doggos will receive a very warm welcome.
