It’s shaping up to be an action-packed summer, well at least for London Dog events. This month’s ‘What’s On Woofs’ should keep you and your pooch busy given that July seems to be officially ‘Dog Show Month’. The perfect time of year if you want to add to that rosette collection. Also on the agenda this month is the UK’s first ever ‘Dog Pup Up’ by Etsy – the place to be if you fancy bagging yourself a stylish bargain or a striking a pose in the Puppy Photo Booth…
An old favourite at Battersea Old Windsor and of course all for a good cause to help the lovely residents of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. Dress to impress with lots of competitions for your pooch to enter – our favourites being waggiest tail and the dog who looks most like their owner. Humans there’s plenty for you to do too (aside from making sure your dog looks good that is).
Another event for a cause, this time for the Mayhew Animal Home. As well as the celebrity judged dog show with judges Sir Tony Robinson (Blackadder), Dr Margaret Mountford (The Apprentice) and Marc Abraham ( the TV Vet), there will be dog agility and a sponsored walk around the Serpentine.
Do you have a hip Hackney hound? If so Clissold Park is the place to be on the 18th July. London charities such as All Dogs Matter and Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will be there and yup, you’ve guessed it there will be a dog show for your pooch to enter.
Also on the 18th July, Etsy sellers will be offering the chance to kit out your pooch in style at London’s first ‘Dog Pup Up’ at West Elm on Tottenham Court Road. Aside from gorgeous doggie goodies from sellers such as Hiro & Wolf, Pup Tart and Edwyn UK, there will also be a Puppy Photo Booth in the store to take snaps of you and your pooch (and your pup’s purchases of course.)
Round off this action-packed month of dog events with the eagerly anticipated ‘Pup Idol’ at the Garden Gate in Hampstead in aid of All Dogs Matter. Your pooch should have got lots of practice in by now and be an expert at impressing the judges. Let’s see if they can bring it home and be crowned with the coveted title of Mr or Miss Hampstead.
