September is here and it’s one of the perfect months for doggos to be out and about, enjoying all the pawsome pup events on the London Dog Events Calendar. We’ll be making the most of the last dog days of summer especially as September doesn’t disappoint with over 40 events on the doggy to-do list in and around London so far, as featured in our ‘London Dog Events And Things To Do September’ round-up.
Amongst all the pawsome things to do this month, our pick of the pack this month has to be the Saltdean Lido Dog Swim, possibly the best dog event of the year! Believe it or not, there are still Saltdean Lido Dog Swim tickets left as this year it is being held over two weekends, not one at Saltdean Lido near Brighton. If you’re in any doubt about this being a blast, read our review of last year’s dog swim here.
If (dog) swimming is not your thing, then why not see out summer in London dog style with the Dog Day at Skylight Rooftop Bar or one of the last London dog shows of the season? More on those and much more below.
Whatever you do, humans get the doggy diaries sorted – and don’t forget, if you prefer to see the events in regular chronological date order, you can see this on our London Dog Events Calendar.

Saltdean Lido Dog Swim 2019
*** Looking for Saltdean Lido Dog Swim 2020 tickets, then here’s the link to this year’s event ***
One of our favourite doggy events from last year, the Saltdean Lido Dog Swim is back for its third year and for 2019 there will be two weekends where dogs can take over Saltdean Lido, not just one! The Saltdean Lido Dog Swim will take place on the 14/15 September AND the 21/22 September 2019 which is pawsome news as this means more dogs can have a swim or they can go twice!
If you haven’t been yet make sure you get your paws on tickets [BOOK TICKETS HERE] and in the meantime read our review of last weekend’s dog swim with all the essential info you need to know on what’s in store (a fabulous time) and other useful info such as how to get there from London.

At Saltdean Lido, there are two pools to choose from for dogs to enjoy their swim – the large main pool which is great for confident doggos or the paddling pool which is great for pups finding their paws in water.

Humans can also go along of course, either as spectators if you don’t plan to actually swim with your dog but to stand on the side or you can get human swimming tickets too if you plan to join your dog in the water.
Saltdean Lido Dog Swim 2019 Tickets
Here’s how it works: There are five 90 minute sessions on each Saturday and four 90 minute sessions each Sunday.
Session times are:
Saturdays: 9am-10.30am; 11am-12.30pm; 1pm-2.30pm; 3pm-4.30pm and 5pm-6.30pm
Sundays: 10am-11.30am; 12pm-1.30pm; 2pm-3.30pm and 4pm-5.30pm
For the dog swim ticket, your Best Friend (BF) has access to both the main pool and for those less adventurous, the paddling pool (with slide).
If you want to swim with your BF, you’ll need a human swim ticket, or if you prefer to stand at the poolside and throw a toy, a spectator ticket is fine.
For Health & Safety reasons, we do not allow Under-16s into the pools (This applies to Humans only!!!) Under-16s are welcome as spectators.
The lifeguards are only trained for Humans, so you are responsible for your BF. We have an absolute No Aggression policy (so if either you or your BF snarl at or attack anyone, you’ll both be asked to leave – though we’ve never had a fight yet). And of course, it goes without saying that we expect you to pick up any deposits your BF leaves.
There’s lots of grass for your BF to dash around on too, if they have any energy left, and the site is secure.
Ticket prices are very reasonable: £7.50 for swim tickets – (dogs or humans) and £3.00 for spectators (+ booking fee) with all funds raised from the Saltdean Lido Dog Swim going to support the upkeep of this beautiful Grade II listed art deco lido.

Run the Pack Walthamstow Marshes | Join Run the Pack LDN for a run through Walthamstow Marshes on 15 September where you can choose between a 5km or 10km run. Running with your dog is a fantastic way to keep fit and have fun. Also known as canicross, it’s an exciting and fast-growing sport.
We run in groups, led by a pack leader and set off in waves. Our rule is ‘no dog left behind’. It’s first and foremost about having fun – nobody is too slow! For those looking for a personal best this might not be the event for you, but you’re more than welcome (we’ll provide you with a map).
Run the Pack Walthamstow Marshes kicks off at 9 am on Sunday 15th September and the organisers will be in touch before the event to confirm the exact start point in Walthamstow Marshes.
Every pooch will receive a doggy bag packed full of healthy treats when they cross the ‘finish line’, and there’ll be prizes thanks to our incredible sponsors.
– All abilities welcome – new to canicross or regular runners
– Organised entirely by volunteers
– We hold 4 meetups a year, Sep-May (avoiding the hot summer months)
Donate what you can via Eventbrite to secure your place. All money raised will be donated to Chilterns Dog Rescue Society (CDRS). Please give generously:
CDRS is an independent rescue and rehoming shelter in Hertfordshire. The charity refuses to put dogs down, provides extensive veterinary care and training for dogs that need it and gives a second chance to hundreds of dogs every year.
A few things to think about:
– If this is the first time you’ll be running with your dog, you may want to consult your Vet.
– Dogs must be fully mature to run. Typically this is at least 12 months old for smaller dogs and 18 months for larger.
– Maximum 2 dogs per runner.
– We’ll start at 9 am. Please arrive in good time. Your dog will want a sniff.
– We recommend dogs run in a canicross harness but a regular, non-restrictive harness is also OK. No leads on collars.
– We recommend humans run with a waist belt and bungee lead for your own comfort and safety. If you don’t have either of these please let us know as we have spares for you to borrow. Email runthepackldn@gmail.com
– The event is on-lead. We can’t accept any off-lead dogs.
– Please bring water and poo bags. You are responsible for your dog’s hydration and picking up after your pooch.
– Run in appropriate trainers and comfortable clothes. Parts of the route may be a little muddy.
– You must be in control of your dog. We are inclusive (canicross can be a great outlet for dogs with anxiety or other issues), but please let us know if your dog likes a bit more space.
– We run in all weathers. Join us even if it looks like rain!
If you have any questions, please do get in touch: runthepackldn@gmail.com

Dog Day at Skylight 2019 is returning on Sunday 15th September 2019. The popular rooftop destination located at Tobacco Dock is excited to announce the return of their Dog Day for 2019.
Dog Day is the perfect opportunity to head to one of London’s favourite rooftops, accompanied by friends, family and most importantly… a dog! Skylight is home to three floors of bars, street food, games and entertainment and on the penultimate Sunday of the month, will be mixing up special doggy cocktails and offering treats a-plenty for each four-legged friend. Skylight will also be holding an Instagram competition for ‘best photo of a dog at Skylight’ with prizes to be won.
Dog Day At Skylight 2019 cocktails will include the Frenchie 75, Paw-n star Martini and the Who’s A Good Boy – a percentage of proceeds made from each special Dog Day cocktail will go to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.
Treats will be supplied healthy and 100% natural dog food companies Soopa Pets and Devon based dog-lovers Forthglade, health food pioneers Lecker Bites as well as nutritious treats from Laughing Dog.
Skylight Rooftop at Tobacco Dock is famous for its panoramic and uninterrupted views across the city’s skyline. Its unique urban lawn game and bar offering means that it has become one of London’s favourite summer hot spots.
Skylight’s bars will feature collection buckets to help raise money for Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. Battersea is here for every dog and cat and has been since 1860. Since it was founded 159 years ago, Battersea has rescued, reunited and rehomed over 3.1 million dogs and cats. Battersea believes that every dog and cat deserves the best, that’s why they aim to never turn away a dog or cat in need. In 2018, Battersea helped almost 7,000 dogs and cats and cares for an average of 250 dogs and 120 cats across its three centres at any one time. There is no time limit on how long an animal can stay at Battersea, but the average stay for a dog is 35 days and 23 days for a cat. In addition to the site in South West London, Battersea also has two other centres based at Old Windsor, Berkshire and Brands Hatch, Kent.
Free entry, Skylight opens at noon.

Crafty Dog Festival Brighton | The dog-loving people of Brighton & Hove are in for a treat! The ‘Say Aphasia’ charity are introducing The Crafty Dog Festival on Saturday 21st September in Preston Park, Brighton.
Entry is free to all and opening times are from 10am – 4pm. You will be able to enjoy a day out with your dog and meet other dogs and owners.
You can get involved in our dog show, try an agility class, purchase local homemade dog treats and handmade dog accessories and much more!
The Crafty Dog Festival aims to raise funds and awareness for the charity, while bringing together the local community to celebrate our canine friends. Many people haven’t heard of this condition ‘aphasia’ and so the people in Brighton & Hove who live with it are left with little support – we need to change this. Say Aphasia charity supports people with the condition aphasia by providing weekly drop-in groups for these people to meet others in the same situation. The charity’s aim is to provide support and encouragement so that people with aphasia learn to adapt to their new way of life, with more ease and less frustrations. Aphasia is a communication disability which occurs when the communication centres of the brain are damaged. It is usually caused by a stroke, brain haemorrhage, head injury or a brain tumour. Aphasia makes it difficult to read, write or speak.
The event is sponsored by local photographer Lauren Christien Photography. Someone who is very passionate about the charity and also a massive fan of dogs.

About the Bermondsey Street Festival and Bermondsey Street Festival Dog Show 2019
Twelve years ago this September a dog collar shop and a couple of restaurants got together in Tanner Street Park for a Dog Show and a Maypole, they had a band on the back of a truck.
They grew to take over two parks and a street with over 12000 visitors, the very best food from restaurants in the area and a homegrown south London Music stage. A truly local event that reaches out to the diversity of Bermondsey Street and the immediate area.

Our best friends never cease to surprise, amuse, amaze and entertain us all. All proceeds to charity. By the community, for the community!

What’s On at the Chiswick House Dog Show 2019: 18 Fun Classes | My Dog’s Got Talent | Celebrity Judges | Egg & Spoon Relay | Over 40 Stands | Food & Drink Stalls and more!
Chiswick House Dog Show 2019 Class Info:
Waggiest Tail
Does your dog never stop wagging its tail? Does it (the tail) go round and round in circles? Then this is the class for you!
Best Rescue
Judged (appropriately) by the Dogs Trust people, this class is looking for the best-looking, the best-behaved, the best-adjusted, the best-groomed rescue dog.
Egg & Spoon Relay Challenge
2 adults + 2 children + 1 dog = 1 team. Click here for more info.
Best Young Handler
For this the handler needs to be aged seven or older and has to show their expertise at walking their dog, their general handling and the ability to get the dog to sit.
Naughtiest Dog
This is wide open to interpretation! Can you, accompanied by the offender, tell the judges about the worst thing your dog has ever done?
Fancy Dress
For adults and/or children PLUS dog/s. This year we are celebrating 50 years since the first moon landing as our theme, so get your thinking caps on for some great fancy dress ideas!
Next Top Model
Sponsored (and judged) by PetLondon (the UK’s leading animal talent agency), this class is for DOGS OF ALL SIZES AND AGES. It’s very popular and because of this it has to be split into two: the first is for dogs under 15Kg and the second for those over 15Kg. It’s important to remember that ‘doggy’ stars are an equal mix between family favourites (spaniels, retrievers, cockapoos, bulldogs) as well as the more exotic breeds.
My Dog’s Got Talent
Can your dog jump through a hoop, turn a double-somersault, balance a biscuit on its nose? This class gives license to all those dogs with a budding talent to perform the unusual.
Best in Show
Is for the winners of each of the 16 show classes who then compete against each other for the titles of Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show.

One of London’s best rooftop bars, Savage Garden, has gone barking mad by introducing the special monthly ‘Savage Garden Rooftop Dog Brunch’ due to popular demand.
*** Updated, read our review of the Savage Garden Dog Brunch here ***
Dubbed as London’s wildest sky-high destination, Savage Garden, brings decadent décor, jaw-dropping views, dramatic cocktails and savage menus to Tower Hill. Located atop the DoubleTree by Hilton, the ethos is focused on the unexpected. Two terraces provide 360-degree views of the London skyline including The Shard, Tower of London, The Gherkin and St. Paul’s Cathedral.
Guests have a wide variety of savagely good brunch dishes to choose from off the a la carte menu that is as far removed from traditional brunch items as possible. Panko chicken cutlet, bacon and radish salad, cranberry, caper, sriracha mayo and a sunny-side fried egg, as well as bourbon-glazed beef short rib, charred sourdough and poached eggs’, are tipped to be some of the favourites.
Cocktails are abundant, with bloody mary ‘red snappers’ and zesty mimosas all making an appearance. Pooches will receive a Savage pupcake baked with delicious dog-friendly ingredients.
Bring your pooch to this sky-high destination and enjoy a day out with your best friend. This brunch is definitely not going to the dogs.
And if you don’t have four legs, you can still come and enjoy the usual Play Brunch that is on offer and make some new furry friends.
The Savage Garden Rooftop Dog Brunch takes place from 12pm until 4pm with reservations at 12pm, 1pm or 2pm. To reserve your table visit www.savagegarden.co.uk or call 020 7709 1043.

Reach the Beach 2019 | Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare’s annual Reach the Beach is on Saturday 7th September and they hope many of you will join in the fun for this jaunt to the seaside.
Hounds and humans head to West Wittering beach for a walk around beautiful East Head.
Many people will bring a Wimbledon Greyhound Kennel Hound to give them a lovely day out – if you have space in your car, please do book out one of the kennel dogs. If you’d like to bring a kennel hound please call the kennels on 01932 251894 to book them out for the day.
If you are picking up a kennel hound, collect from Hersham kennels between 8.30am and 9am then head to West Wittering. The Group are meeting at the far end of the big car park at West Wittering around 10.30. Our first group thing is a big group photo at 11am sharp! Then there will be some games, a lovely walk and paddling along the beach at East Head and finally a picnic!
Please bring a picnic for you and for your dogs (including kennel hounds if you’re bringing any). Please note, the Kennel hounds will not have any breakfast due to travelling.
Reach the Beach 2019 is a fabulous day for all involved, especially as many of the dogs have never seen the sea before! And of course, it’s a great way to raise the profile of greyhounds as wonderful pets.

There will be a limited number of spaces for people turning up on the day. Prices for tickets on the day will be specified at the point of sale.
Are there any entry requirements?
Walkers
Walkers must either be 16+ or accompanied by an adult. Walkers may bring a dog or dogs (up to 2 per walker) but this is not a requirement to take part.
The walk through Wimbledon Common will be reasonably strenuous (approx. 4km or 7km) and will include patches of uneven ground and inclines. You should be confident that you and your dog are physically able to complete the walk. Unfortunately the terrain is not suitable for mobility scooters or wheelchairs.
Dogs
We are looking forward to meeting our new four legged friends. Please can you ensure your dog:
Is well socialised and will not behave in an aggressive, intimidating or dangerous manner towards other dogs or any participants or members of the public
Is kept on a lead at all times
Is not permitted to disturb other users of Wimbledon Common
Is kept under control and taken to one side if a horse is approaching
Has a supply of dog-waste bags, their mess is picked up and disposed of in one of the dog-waste bins on site or else the dog mess is taken away and disposed of by the participant at their home
Is tagged with the owner’s contact details on their collar (this is a legal requirement and we can reunite any lost dogs and their owners much more easily this way)
Has been microchipped (this is a legal requirement from April 2016)
Is up to date with vaccines and is not in season
Is transported to and from the Event safely and securely
Is not left unattended in a vehicle during the Event
Walkers are responsible for their own safety and that of their children and animals when taking part in the walk.
We recommend you:
Bring sufficient water (and food if required) to get around the walk for both you and your dogs
Wear suitable clothing and footwear (taking into account the weather forecast)
Bring a mobile phone with full battery
Carry a route map and emergency contact details (these will be provided to you at check in)
Please do not bring any alcohol onto the route and please do not litter on the Common.
If you need any further information please email us; events@wimbledonguild.co.uk or call the events team on; 0208 739 2930.

Fleabag Film Synopsis:
See the award-winning one-woman show that inspired the BBC’s hit TV series Fleabag, broadcast live to cinemas from London’s West End.
Written and performed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (TV’s Fleabag, Killing Eve) and directed by Vicky Jones, Fleabag is a rip-roaring look at some sort of woman living her sort of life.
Fleabag may seem oversexed, emotionally unfiltered and self-obsessed, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. With family and friendships under strain and a guinea pig café struggling to keep afloat, Fleabag suddenly finds herself with nothing to lose. ★★★★★ “Witty, filthy and supreme.” – The Guardian
Always a popular event, tickets are £16.90 for adults and are available here.
Picturehouse Central Dog-friendly Screening Impawtent Info
Well-behaved dogs and their friendly owners (one dog per adult) are welcome at select film screenings which usually takes place on Sunday morning. It’s a great way for dog owners to enjoy cinema without having to leave their best friend at home and to meet fellow dog-owning film fans.
Water is always available and all dogs sit on a blanketed seat so as to avoid any hairs or mess. After the event, the screen is thoroughly cleaned making sure our furry friends leave no trace behind. To further cater to cinema-loving pooches, the volume is dipped as they have superhero hearing powers.
Should a dog become unruly or adversely affect the enjoyment of others, the Manager needs to intervene and, if necessary, request that the owner and the dog leave the premises. No refund will be offered.
