London dogs now have a new place to take their human for dog afternoon tea, and it’s a five-star experience! The new Dog Afternoon Tea at the Great Scotland Yard Hotel in London launches this weekend with a special dog menu from canine nutrition experts Talula Eats, and it does not disappoint. This fabulous Dog Afternoon Tea will be offered every other Sunday each month alongside the ‘A Rose For…’ Afternoon Tea for humans in collaboration with royal perfumery, Floris London.

Even before the official launch, the Afternoon Tea for dogs is already proving so popular it’s booked out weeks in advance. We went to the press launch and got an exclusive look at what we have no doubt will be London dogs’ new favourite afternoon tea. Read on to see just how delicious in every sense it was…

Great Scotland Yard Hotel

First, we should tell you about the location for London’s latest Dog Afternoon Tea, the dog-friendly Great Scotland Yard Hotel. The hotel is steeped in history, located just off Whitehall and a short stroll from many London sights and Covent Garden.

The location was once home to the former headquarters of the Metropolitan Police until 1890 when they moved out to make room for the Ministry of Defence.

The hotel effortlessly blends history with a modern and luxurious experience. Still, if you look closely, there are references to London’s police force or underworld hidden in every corner, giving it an authentic edge.

The hotel has several elegant spaces to enjoy, such as The 40 Elephants, a bar named after a notorious gang of female thieves or the Sibin Whiskey Bar hidden behind a bookcase. Due to their size (28 and 45 covers, respectively), these spaces are not dog-friendly, but hopefully, this will change in the future.

However, the rest of the Great Scotland Yard Hotel, including the rooms, is dog-friendly. Dogs up to 22 kg (or two dogs up to 34 kilograms combined) are welcome to stay with you if booking a room; see the hotel’s pet policy here.
The Great Scotland Yard Hotel Afternoon Tea Experience

From the moment we stepped through the doors of the hotel, we were met not only with a stunning space but with the warmest of welcomes both for dogs and humans. The staff personally introduced themselves to us and wanted to know each of the dogs’ names, then introduced the dogs by name to their colleagues. This personal touch was just one of the things that really stood out of our Dog Afternoon Tea experience, and there were many more.

Afternoon Tea (and more importantly, Dog Afternoon Tea) is taken in the Parlour, a beautifully opulent room inspired by the Imperial Tea Room in the Hotel Delhi.

Once in the Parlour, it quickly became apparent that this was not just your average Dog Afternoon Tea but rather a five-star experience for both humans and hounds.
The Floris London A Rose For… Afternoon Tea
For the humans, the Afternoon Tea Menu has been inspired by the iconic perfumery Floris London, the only perfumery appointed to Her Majesty The Queen.

Expect to be treated to a delicious tier of savoury delights followed by colourful and exquisite sweet treats with notes of rose and vanilla from Floris London’s luxury fragrance ‘A Rose For…’ as well as warm scones with Cornish Clotted Cream and Blackcurrant Jam.

We were looked after by the lovely Ana, who had a knack for sensing what we wanted before we had even voiced it out loud. Ana recommended which tea would best accompany the savoury and sweet Afternoon Teas for the humans and her recommendations were spot on every time.
Each item on the menu was so delicious! If, like us, you aren’t able to finish it all, it’s definitely too tasty to be left behind, so the staff will kindly box up anything you want to take home.

Vegetarians/Vegans are catered for but do let the hotel know of any dietary preferences at the time of booking.
The Dog Afternoon Tea by Talula Eats

Pups are also in for a real treat with their own Dog Afternoon Tea Menu created by canine nutrition experts Talula Eats.

Talula Eats has created a dog menu of healthy and delicious dishes that are so good that Belinha made sure not a single crumb was left behind!

Pups can start their afternoon tea experience with a savoury bowl of delicious slow-cooked fresh turkey supplemented with cricket powder, vegetables and fruits.

This is followed by a selection of sweet dishes, beginning with a Pink Peony Pupcake and Doggie Digestive biscuits and finally, a slice of Talula’s delicious homemade doggie cake.

Of course, there are no additives or preservatives added to the food. Instead, plenty of goodies such as salmon and coconut oil, flaxseed, and turmeric are included to support pup health.

And this is an afternoon tea for dogs that gives back, with a portion of Talula Eats’ sales going directly to Dogs on The Streets (DOTS), a charity helping the homeless with dogs by providing veterinary care, food and much-needed support.
Our Review

In fact, it was so good we have to give the Great Scotland Yard Hotel Afternoon Tea the number one spot in our Guide To The Best Dog Afternoon Tea in London. As you may have guessed, we would highly recommend London Dogs add this afternoon tea to their doggy to-do lists for a special occasion or just because you deserve a treat!
