Saltdean Lido Dog Swim 2019

*** Looking for Saltdean Lido Dog Swim 2020 tickets, then here’s the link to this year’s event ***

One of our favourite doggy events from last year, the Saltdean Lido Dog Swim is back for its third year and for 2019 there will be two weekends where dogs can take over Saltdean Lido, not just one! The Saltdean Lido Dog Swim will take place on the 14/15 September AND the 21/22 September 2019 which is pawsome news as this means more dogs can have a swim or they can go twice!

If you haven’t been yet make sure you get your paws on tickets [BOOK TICKETS HERE] and in the meantime read our review of last weekend’s dog swim with all the essential info you need to know on what’s in store (a fabulous time) and other useful info such as how to get there from London.

The Saltdean Lido Dog Swim 2019 - Dogs at the pool
The main swimming pool

At Saltdean Lido, there are two pools to choose from for dogs to enjoy their swim – the large main pool which is great for confident doggos or the paddling pool which is great for pups finding their paws in water.

Saltdean Lido Dog Swim 2019 - Small Shallow Pool
The paddling pool (shallow)

Humans can also go along of course, either as spectators if you don’t plan to actually swim with your dog but to stand on the side or you can get human swimming tickets too if you plan to join your dog in the water.

Saltdean Lido Dog Swim 2019 Tickets

Here’s how it works: There are five 90 minute sessions on each Saturday and four 90 minute sessions each Sunday.

Session times are:

Saturdays: 9am-10.30am; 11am-12.30pm; 1pm-2.30pm; 3pm-4.30pm and 5pm-6.30pm
Sundays: 10am-11.30am; 12pm-1.30pm; 2pm-3.30pm and 4pm-5.30pm

For the dog swim ticket, your Best Friend (BF) has access to both the main pool and for those less adventurous, the paddling pool (with slide).

If you want to swim with your BF, you’ll need a human swim ticket, or if you prefer to stand at the poolside and throw a toy, a spectator ticket is fine.

For Health & Safety reasons, we do not allow Under-16s into the pools (This applies to Humans only!!!) Under-16s are welcome as spectators.

The lifeguards are only trained for Humans, so you are responsible for your BF. We have an absolute No Aggression policy (so if either you or your BF snarl at or attack anyone, you’ll both be asked to leave – though we’ve never had a fight yet). And of course, it goes without saying that we expect you to pick up any deposits your BF leaves.

There’s lots of grass for your BF to dash around on too, if they have any energy left, and the site is secure.

Ticket prices are very reasonable: £7.50 for swim tickets – (dogs or humans) and £3.00 for spectators (+ booking fee) with all funds raised from the Saltdean Lido Dog Swim going to support the upkeep of this beautiful Grade II listed art deco lido.

Hi Maxine, not until they are released but last year a swim ticket was £7.50 if that helps, thanks Teresa

    • Jules
      29th April 2019 / 12:05 am

£7.50 for swim tickets (dogs or human), £3.50 for spectators. You don’t have to swim with your dog, you can be a “spectator” and stand on the poolside and fling a toy (though we suggest a towel for both dogs and spectators.

Hi is there a limit on how many dogs you can take?

    • 4th June 2019 / 5:28 pm

Hi Jo, you just need to make sure there is a human with the dog(s) either as a swimmer or spectator

      • 4th June 2019 / 8:02 pm

Hi Jo, just confirmed with Saltdean Lido that technically it’s one dog per human if the dog is swimming (and the human can be either a swimmer or spectator), hope that helps. If you have more specific queries please contact Julie Shepherd (organiser) on julesinsaltdean@gmail.com.

Hi Tracey, last year we saw some people in swimsuits and others in t-shirts so I guess it’s what you feel comfortable with. Hope that helps, Teresa

Went on the Saturday with both pups. Had a brilliant time. Both dogs absolutely loved it. Will definitely be going back next year. Shame this doesn’t happen in other places too.
