Dogs Trust and Hackney Police will be running the Dog Theft Prevention Event London Fields in Hackney on the 23rd August from 11am-3pm. Come along to find out how you can protect your dog, with free microchipping, temporary ID tags, literature and basic health checks.
As explained by the Dogs Trust:
“Dogs Trust are working in conjunction with Hackney Police to raise awareness of Dog Theft in the area. The police will be on hand to offer advice on making your home and garden secure, and what to do if your dog is stolen.
At our Community Events, a veterinary nurse will carry out a basic health check, which includes checking eyes, ears, teeth and weight, to make sure your dog is happy, fit and healthy.
The team offer free on-the-spot microchipping for dogs that aren’t yet chipped (microchipping is a legal requirement as of April 2016). We can also advise you about changing your microchip details should it be needed.
No appointment is required. We operate on a drop in basis so be sure to come along with your dog and say hello, but please keep your dog on a lead when attending our Community Events.
All breeds of dogs are welcome at our Community Events, whether a pup or an adult, however Dogs Trust will not chip active hunting hounds or litters of puppies. We ask that puppies under 6 months old are fully vaccinated and proof of vaccinations are brought along to the event. If your puppy has recently been vaccinated, they must be carried for the 10 days following their final vaccination. Dogs over 6 months old do not require proof of vaccination.”
