We’re back with another in the My Dog-friendly London – London by London Dogs series and off on a tour of dog-friendly Fulham this week courtesy of South London Sausage, Empress Mathilda.
Empress Mathilda is one cool, calm and collected sausage we have to say. Mathilda showed us round her dog-friendly Fulham hotspots on a rainy Saturday (Mathilda doesn’t do rain by the way so enlisted the help of her human Katie to drive her around) and seemed equally at home at the local pub as at the hidden brunch bar she took us to.
So let’s get to know the Empress herself and where Mathilda took us on her dog-friendly Fulham tour…
Please introduce yourself:
I’m Empress Mathilda, I’m two years old and you can find me on Instagram as @empressmathilda. Currently I live in Fulham and love it.
What’s your favourite London Park and why?
Bishops Park, there’s plenty of squirrel chasing, sunbather interrupting and butt sniffing to be done and Mum also likes to look out at the Thames whizzing past.
Tell us a bit about yourself?
Born in the countryside and raised in the city, I am an empress who is easily unimpressed when standards slip. I am a multifaceted pooch – member of the lowrider fox poo rolling gang and office dog extraordinaire at Waggel taking on the role of chief cuddle officer and distractor. On the weekends I like nothing more than a trot about town with my fellow gals followed by a tipple next to a cosy fire complete with mandatory snuggles.
Dog-friendly Fulham | Mathilda’s Tip #1
Name: The Little Blue Door
Address: 871-873, Fulham Rd, Fulham, London SW6 5HP
Why do you like The Little Blue Door / what makes it special as a dog-friendly venue?
Well there two resident dogs keeping staff focused on the things that matter – a cosy bed to park my bum, an abundance of treats and plenty of strokes and admiration.
Any top tips for the venue?
It gets a bit human rowdy later in the evening so best to be there during the day especially for the help yourself brunch. A seen to be seen kinda vibe.
Dog-friendly Fulham | Mathilda’s Tip #2
Name: The Harwood Arms
Address: Walham Grove, Fulham, London SW6 1QP
Why do you like The Harwood Arms / what makes it special as a dog-friendly venue?
The staff love me. Seriously, its kinda creepy – they remembered my name after one visit. Plenty of cuddles, water bowls for other customers to fall over and sometimes a treat from the kitchen if I working my cuteness to overload. Feels like a country pub was teleported into London.
Any top tips for the venue?
The Harwood Arms is home to great vibes so book in advance – it’s very popular!
Dog-friendly Fulham | Mathilda’s Tip #3
Name: The Market Hall Fulham
Address: 472 Fulham Rd, Fulham, London SW6 1BY
Why do you like The Market Hall Fulham / what makes it special as a dog-friendly venue?
It’s so dog-friendly that you are likely to bump into plenty of doggo friends and maybe make some new ones. Staff provide water bowls if you ask and also scritch scrotches on demand. Food hoovering opportunities are available with an extensive variety of food and drinks for owners.
Any top tips for the venue?
Avoid times that the Chelsea footie is on unless you want to get hounded (sorry).
Dog-friendly Fulham | Mathilda’s Tip #4
Name: The Palace Gardener
Address: Bishop’s Avenue, Fulham SW6 6EE
Why do you like The Palace Gardener?
Great stop off after a visit to Fulham Palace Park next door, so a good for warming those paws back up after a bracing walk. It’s super dog friendly, you can even find Teddy Maximus goodies for sale there.
Any top tips for The Palace Gardener?
Muddy pawed pooches are definitely cool, and it has a lovely relaxed atmosphere with great cawfee for hoomans too.
Thank you Empress Mathilda for all these top tips in your ‘Dog-friendly Fulham Guide’ – we love how different all the places are and have to say that The Little Blue Door is an absolute gem of a dog-friendly find, hidden behind you guessed it…an unassuming blue door.
