There’s a new dog-friendly afternoon tea in town…the Radley x South Place Hotel Posh Pooch High Tea. Designed especially for dogs and their owners, this is definitely no ordinary afternoon tea! Set in the spectacular setting of the Secret Garden at London’s luxurious South Place Hotel (which just happens to be oh so instagrammable) and hosted by the iconic British accessories brand Radley (of Scottie dog fame), the Radley x South Place Hotel dog-friendly afternoon tea is a feast for the senses for both humans and hounds.
Ahead of the official launch of the Radley x South Place Hotel dog-friendly afternoon tea at the beginning of August, we were invited along to the exclusive preview much to Belinha’s delight. From the moment we walked into the stylish South Place Hotel lobby we had a feeling we were going to be in for a real treat and we were.
The Secret Garden on the first floor of the hotel not only welcomes dogs but is simply stunning. Part bar terrace, part enchanted garden oasis, we absolutely loved the tropical colours and floral ceiling.
We were even greeted by Monty the Radley Scottie Ambassador who brought the Radley spirit to the afternoon and made sure all the pups felt welcome.
When it was time for tea, Belinha couldn’t quite believe her luck…she got her own seat at the table and nearly fell off it in excitement when the Posh Pooch High Tea was brought out full of bespoke doggy delights created by artisanal dog food brand, the Barking Bakery.

Belinha was in absolute doggy heaven at the sight of the freshly baked cheesy biscuits and the mini vanilla iced woofins, wasting no time in letting me know that one would not suffice and that she wanted them ALL.
The Posh Pooch High Tea was followed by an impressive afternoon tea for humans created by Bake Off: The Professionals finalist, Nelson Barros.
Inspired by Radley’s Autumn Winter ’19 collection, think Red Velvet and Madagascan Vanilla Handbags, British Bakewell Bones or Guanaja Valrhona Chocolate Scottie Slices and more mouth-watering treats. Even the teapots were feeling patriotic!
I love a good afternoon tea but what made this one so special was being able to share it with Belinha and seeing her almost delirious delight at having her very own Posh Pooch High Tea…the iced woofins being a particular favourite!
Although Belinha would have happily eaten it all within minutes, we had to be sensible (a girl does have to watch her waistline after all) so South Place Hotel kindly packed up a doggy box for us to take home.
It was a big paws up for the Radley x South Place Hotel dog-friendly afternoon tea from both people and pups at our table. Definitely one for the summer doggy to-do list in our opinion and a pawfect treat for yourself and your pooch. And if you’re coming from out of town, why not book a room at South Place Hotel where pets are welcome to stay too.
The Radley x South Place Hotel dog-friendly afternoon tea costs £45 per person or £55, including a glass of Nyetimber + £10 supplement for The Posh Pooch High Tea. We also have a special Radley discount code for our readers…use VIPTEA to get 15% off full-price products over at Radley.

This looks good initially. However getting there by tube is not easy with a dog, especially if there are escalators. So I called the hotel to ask about parking if we decide to drive there, and they said there wasn’t any. The hotel will only allow residential guests to use their car park. So not very practical for dog owners I’m afraid, which is a shame as we really wanted to go.

We also have to find routes that avoid escalators where possible as Belinha is quite heavy! We went from Waterloo to Bank (using lifts) and then it’s approx a ten minute walk from Bank. On the way back we took a short bus ride to Blackfriars and then the Thames Clipper boat which is one of our favourite stress free ways to travel with a dog and again no escalators So it is definitely do-able avoiding those dreaded escalators with some planning. Hope that helps, Teresa
