A ‘Barking’ Good Read…
Damp Dogs & Rabbit Wee is a gem of a book, pure and simple. If you’re a dog or pet owner, you will love this book and identify only too well, with the entertaining escapades that the author Cee Tee Jackson has to navigate through in his new career as a dog walker (sorry, Pet Professional). And, if you’ve ever considered ditching the nine to five in favour of what, in your mind is the idyllic life of a dog walker, this book will give you a hilarious insight into what your new career choice could look like.
I think it’s safe to say that if you love animals (as well as numerous dogs, the book also features the adventures of several cats, rabbits, hamsters and Brian the bearded dragon), then in my (humble) opinion you will love this book just as much as I did.
The back cover of the book provides a good insight into what’s to come; written in a self-deprecating and sharp witty style that sets the tone for the book, it got my attention and made me want to dive in and read more.
Cee Tee Jackson is said ex-bank manager and throughout the book, you will meet the numerous four-legged stars of the book. Mischievous, brave, loveable and even terrifying at times, there’s bound to be at least one (or more) ‘characters’ that you fall in love with.

Witty, tongue in cheek and downright funny, you will laugh (often out loud) and even cry – that bit comes in Chapter 13, so make sure you’re at home and not on the train as I was.

Anyone who is a pet owner will identify with the distinct personalities of the animals and no doubt recognise themselves in the stories where the humans feature too. How many times as a dog owner have you said something similar to what Roo the Jack Russell’s owner said on Cee Tee’s first day: “I don’t know what’s got into them today?! It’s not usually as mad as this”. I certainly have, knowing full well that it most definitely is usually as mad as this, but not wanting my dog to look like the local four-legged delinquent that often he can be.
The book covers the last eight years since Cee Tee started his business and it’s one of those books that you just don’t want to end. Despite what he was told by Roo’s owner, as he says, “every day still brings a degree of madness”. We’re just glad that Cee Tee decided to share those delightful stories of madness with us.

I have just emerged from 6 months of puppiness and need the next 6 months to read, relax and laugh at someone elses escapades!
I’d give this to my daughter because she’s a dog lover and has spent hours researching their behaviour. She would have loved to have worked with dogs but it hasn’t happened yet.

This post made me smile and chuckle in anticipation of reading this book! However, if I won it, I think I’d actually give the book to my friend Dee. She’s a recent dog owner (with a 4 month old bichon frise). Bizarrely, we had a random conversation a little while ago when she expressed a fleeting possible interest in starting her own dog walking business. This giveaway must be some kind of sign! Haha 🙂
