Canines, Cakes & Celebs Galore at the Hampstead Bark Off

This sunny Sunday 10th May, we went along to the long-awaited All Dogs Matter Hampstead Bark Off. This was our first Bark Off so we were excited to see all the fabulous cakes and doggies. We’d entered Belinha in the dog show, her first ever dog show at the grand old age of 8! We had no idea what we would have to do, but hoped it didn’t involve walking round a ring Crufts style as Belinha was more likely to make a bee line for any cakes in the vicinity than show off her obedience skills.

We weren’t disappointed; it was a brilliant day with some amazing cake creations, some serious cuteness overload from all the gorgeous doggies and lots of lovely local celebs who came along to lend their name to a good cause.

The Cakes

Baking, well cooking in general, is not my thing so I am always in awe of people who can cook. I am even more in awe of those who can cook and make their creations look good. So I am in total and utter awe of kids that can do all of the above and couldn’t believe the brilliant cake creations of young Ellie and Ellie-Rose below, fantastic job!

There were also some other wonderful creative entries, so much so it was almost a shame that they would get eaten!

Pro-baker turned Judge, Rob from Rockin Robs Cakes donated an incredibly life-like pug cake which looked like it might hop up off the table and head over to the dog show at any moment. The Dogcake Em’paw’rium and The Pop Bakery also donated some beautiful cakes to the day.

The Canines

For dog-lovers, it was total doggy heaven with dogs of all breeds and sizes absolutely everywhere. Many of the pooches were definitely not camera-shy; as soon as the camera came out they went into total pose mode, which was brilliant. Maybe they thought it was Britain’s Next Dog Model not the Bark Off?!

Of course the dogs that deserve a special mention are the All Dogs Matter dogs looking for forever homes who were there on the day. They were all so adorable and it’s great that people had the chance to meet them. Paws crossed they all find their special homes soon.

For more info on any of the above gorgeous dogs and the other 36 dogs currently looking for a home, please check out their profiles on the adoption page on the All Dogs Matter website.

After the Bake Off, came the dog show and I’d entered Belinha in the Golden Oldies and Best Rescue category. I didn’t think we would win when we saw all the other beautiful doggies who’d entered but were absolutely over the moon when Belinha won 1st prize in the Golden Oldies category, what a lovely surprise!

The judges were brilliant, taking the time to go round and see each dog and hear about their story. Belinha was quite taken with Rachel Riley from Countdown and it seems the feeling was mutual!

The Celebs

Which brings me onto the famous faces who came along for the day of which there were many. Peter Egan (Ever Decreasing Circles), Michelle Collins (Eastenders) and her ex-ADM dog Humphrey, Rachel Riley (Countdown), Marc Abraham (PupAid founder) and Stefanie Marsh (The Times) all came along to the Bark Off to show their support for the gorgeous doggies at All Dogs Matter.

A wooftastic day was definitely had by  all (two-legged and four-legged) and we can’t wait for the next All Dogs Matter event, Pup Idol in July, see you there!

“The Great Hampstead Bark Off” what a great day even the sun had it’s hat on all day 🙂
Well worth attending although my adorable Orange Roan Cocker Spaniel Barny wasn’t entered but he didn’t need, I know he is simply the best dog ever.
Good fun day and so many lovely dogs of all sizes and breeds and such a fantastic cause “All Dogs Matter” keep up the good work.

Indeed it was! I’m sure Barny is a very special dog, hopefully we’ll get to meet him at one of the next events 🙂
