Isle of Dogs fever is taking over the world and definitely London! So much so that there’s an Isle of Dogs Movie Exhibition featuring puppets and sets from the film. These are incredible to see and the level of detail and work that’s gone into them is amazing. The exhibition is free and dogs are allowed as long as they can be carried. BowWow Haus London is a remarkable fundraising and creative collaboration between pet charity Blue Cross, American not-for-profit organisation Outdoor Arts Foundation and photographer Drew Gardner to create unique kennels for dogs to raise money to help vulnerable pets. A network of architects, artists and designers are creating bespoke dog kennels to be displayed throughout London from March 2018 for the first ever public exhibit and auction of artistic dog kennels in Britain. Over 75 one-off dog kennels will go on show at several London venues, including St Pancras International, and will be available to buy at a charity auction or via online bids.

This stylish and original collection will be exhibited in two of London’s premier stations – St Pancras International and Stratford International – and auctioned at the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel London on April 26 (7.30 – 10pm tbc) to support the vital work of pet charity Blue Cross and American not-for-profit organisation Outdoor Arts Foundation. Kennels will be on display at Stratford International from April 20 and other exhibition locations are being confirmed.

The Film

Four long years after The Grand Budapest Hotel, Isle of Dogs brings another welcome dose of Wes Anderson’s whimsical charm and offbeat direction to capture audiences’ hearts. Set in a dystopian future Japan, the paw-some stop-motion animation follows 12-year-old Atari (Koyu Rankin) on his noble quest to find his adored pet dog, Spots (Liev Schreiber). After a mysterious outbreak of ‘canine flu’, all the hounds of Megasaki City are exiled by the authorities to a colossal rubbish dump known as Trash Island. Atari sets out solo to rescue his beloved pooch, meeting a few new mongrel friends along the way. Together, they end up on a journey that will decide the fate of the entire prefecture.

Sausage Stroll Against Stroke Walk:

Sausage Stroll Against Stroke is a free walk and fun day for all to raise funds for The Stroke Association. London Sausages will be meeting at 11:30am on 8th April 2018 at the Temperance Fountain on Clapham Common before heading off for the walk. There will also be a raffle with great prizes on offer. Raffle ticket purchases are not compulsory but greatly encouraged to help raise money for The Stroke Association.

Gaucho Doggy Sunday Brunch | April Edition

The Gaucho Doggy Sunday Brunch really is the perfect london dog event, from the moment you book, it’s all about your dog. Table bookings are taken in your dog’s name (bookings available from 12:00-2:15pm) and on the day a canine red carpet is rolled out to welcome all the pooches. Once inside, a special personalised doggy bowl and lots of delicious home-made treats await your dogs approval.

It wouldn’t be Argentinian without empanadas (small traditional pastries), so Beef or Chicken canine versions will of course be on offer for your pooch to sample.

Gaucho Doggy Sunday Brunch is free for dogs to attend, humans order from the a la carte menu.

Please note your dog should be used to busy environments with lots of dogs and people else he or she (and you) won’t enjoy this London dog-friendly event.

It’s been a year of emergency caesarians, midnight chocoholic hounds, partying puppies and lily-loving kittens here at The London Animal Hospital and we have loved every second of it!

We have laughed and cried, we have been through the triumphs and despair of watching our giant start-up baby grow, we have eaten dinner together on Christmas Day while watching over our patients, we have welcomed new fur-babies into the world and shed tears while saying goodbye to others. Our original team has expanded to welcome even more fantastic vets, nurses and veterinary care assistants and we’re so proud to say that every single one of them is worth their weight in gold.

The Great Wimbledon Dog Walk 2018: Walking for Paws

Who Let The Dogs Out ? No prizes for guessing it’s the UKs Dog Friendliest Pub, The Hand in Hand!
​​Following the success of last years inaugural Great Wimbledon Dog Walk, with a whopping £3000 raised for the Blue Cross pet charity, ‘Walking for Paws’ is back!

​​Participants can choose from a scenic 2.4 or 4.4 mile walk through the beautiful Wimbledon Common, with registration beginning at 10am sharp-ie including an inspirational pup talk from the Blue Cross. The Great Wimbledon Dog walk commences at 11am and concludes back at The Hand with doggy bags and refreshments for all.

Hampstead Heath Schnauzer Walk No. 6

Organised by the Hamsptead Heath Schnauzer Walks Facebook Group (as featured in our London Dog Meetup Guide), the group meets by the first pond from the Hampstead Heath Overground Station at 11 for 11.30am start.

There will be a stop at the Cafe for a short while then possibly at the ponds if any schnauzers like to swim. Organisers will be easily identifiable one will be at the lead.

Carpark is located next to the meeting point and parking is free on Sunday’s on the street.

Remember the Single Dog Owners South West London Meetup group we featured in our London Dog Meetups Guide? Well, it’s time for the first meetup! This is not a dating group but rather a group of people who happen to be singe pup parents getting together. The group are planning to meet on April 26th between 6:30-7pm at the Peace Pagoda then go for a walk followed by a drink at the dog-friendly pub, The Prince Albert, all single dog owners welcome…the more the merrier!

Great British Dog Walk 2018 – Important details

When: 28th April 2018
Where: Windsor Great Park, Wick Lane, Englefield Green, TW20 0UU
Registration: 10.30am
Cost: Adults: £10, Children (under 16): Free

Distance: 4km (Family Route) or 8km (Scenic Route)

Terrain: On stable paths or park roads. One moderate descent and then long rising section on long walk. Both walks take in the beautiful Cow Pond and are considered suitable for pushchairs and off-road type wheelchairs with possibly some assistance required on long walk.

Parking: The walk reception is in the Savill Garden car park.  Fees apply, please click here for details.

More: There are stunning views over Windsor Castle on the long walk (only) and the route also goes through the park village. Both walks take in views of Cow Pond. Toilets and refreshments are available at Savill Gardens Building. Dogs should be kept on leads while on the walk routes. Pet dogs are not permitted in the Savill Gardens building.
