*** Our Guide to London Dog Meetups has been updated! Please see this post: The London Dog Meetups Guide For You & Your Dog***
You might have heard of Meetup, the online social networking site where you can organise offline group get-togethers, you may have even been to one but have you been to one with your dog? Meetup has groups for all types of people and interests and dog owners and dog lovers are no exception.
In London, there are over 6,500 London Meetup groups listed on the site, these include lots of dog themed get-togethers that take place on a regular basis. It’s a great way to meet new people, so pawfect if you are looking for a place where you and your pooch can make some new two and four-legged friends. It’s free to join and most groups are either free to attend or charge a nominal fee to go along.
Here’s our pick of the top 10 London Dog Meetups (in no particular order):
1. London Pugs Meetup
This group is described as a place to meet friendly Pugs and Pug owners in London. Clearly London has a lot of them as the London Pugs Meetup group has a whopping 1,790 members which could get interesting if they all come along at the same time! Meetups take place on the 3rd Saturday of the month in Green Park. The group also runs a second pug Meetup in South East London in Beckenham Place Park on the 2nd Sunday of the month. The next Meetup is on Saturday 4th April.
2. The London Bulldog Meetup Group
Another popular group (with just over a 1,000 members) and all types of Bulldogs are welcome at the London Bulldog Meetup group e.g. English Kennel Club, French, American, VB & Olde Tymes Bulldogs. The group meets on the 1st Sunday of the month in Kensington Gardens with the next Meetup being on Sunday 5th April.
3. The London Boston Terrier Meetup Group
The London Boston Terrier group is for Boston Terriers and their humans although Frenchies and Pugs are also welcome to come along. Meetups take place on the 3rd Sunday of the month in Bushey Park and the next Meetup is this Sunday 15th March.
4. London Dogs Meetup (No longer active)

The London Dogs Meetup is one of the longest running London Dog Meetups (since 2003) and one of the few non-breed specific Meetups. All dogs are welcome, large or small as long as they (and their humans) are friendly of course. The group meets on average once a month in North London but there is no fixed schedule so check the group page for more updates. The next Meetup currently scheduled is on Saturday May 16th in conjunction with the next group on this list.
5. North London Small Dog and Toy Breed Meetup (No longer active)

Run by the same organisers as the London Dog Meetup (see no. 4 on the list), the North London Small Dog and Toy Breed group is specifically for all small dogs and toy breeds. Again, no fixed schedule but a longstanding active group (since 2007) who are celebrating their 8th Birthday on their May Meetup on Saturday 16th May. Please check their Meetup page for more info.
6. Mutts and Mates

The name says it all for this one. Friendly dogs (all breeds) and humans welcome at the Kingston based Mutts and Mates group. The group meets a few times a month both mid-week and on weekends at various locations around the Kingston area. This group also has a community focus, encouraging people to connect within the group to create a network of doggie friends that can support each other by looking after other member’s dogs when on holiday etc. Dog lovers who don’t have a dog are also welcome. The next Meetup is on Wednesday 18th March.
7. South East London and Kent French Bulldog Playdates (No longer active)
The South East London and Kent French Bulldog Playdates group caters for French Bulldogs and their owners living on the London/Kent borders. The group usually meets once a month in Oxlea Woods but also in places such as Greenwich Park and Danson Park which is where the next Meetup on Sunday 22nd March will take place. Check the group page for the latest schedule.
8. Daytime Dog Walks Meetup (No longer active)

If you’re mainly available during the week, then the Daytime Dog Walkers group is for you. Meetups are organised a few times a month and locations are varied all over London e.g. Richmond Park, Hampstead Heath, Crystal Palace Park and Bedfont Lakes Park to name a few. The next Meetup will be in Virginia Waters on Wednesday 18th March.
9. London Poodle Meetup (No longer active)
The London Poodle Meetup is run by the same organisers as the Daytime Dog Walkers Group and hosts monthly get togethers just for poodles and their owners. Again it’s great for people living in different areas of London as Meetups take place in a different part of London each month. The next one will take place at Hampstead Heath on Friday 20th March.
10. Explore by Paws Dog Walking Weekends

Ok so not strictly in London but it is a London-based Meetup Group. Explore by Paws organises monthly out-of-town dog walking weekends and takes the hassle out of knowing good dog walking places to go and dog friendly places to stay. You pay for your travel and accommodation and there is a small charge of up to £20 per dog to join the weekends to cover guide costs for the walks etc (no charge for humans). However, it’s a non-profit group and any surplus at the end of the year is donated to The Cinnamon Trust, a charity which supports elderly people and their pets throughout the UK.
