Last Sunday hundreds of humans and hounds turned up for the much-awaited Chiswick House Dog Show in West London to celebrate all things dog! For those who wanted to put their best paw forwards (and many did) there were over 18 classes to choose in the dog show, from Naughtiest Dog (our personal favourite) to the highly competitive Fancy Dress class.
The Chiswick House Dog Show – Dogspotting
Walking around the show we made some fantastic new four-legged friends and of course we definitely had a soft spot for the many rescue pups we met who had been lucky enough to find wooferful new homes.
Of course there were also some pups there on the day hoping to find their new homes such as this gorgeous trio from London Rescue & Rehoming Charity All Dogs Matter
Whatever their story most pups were were very willing to pose for the camera and some clearly should have entered the Next Top Model category!
There were simply so many gorgeous dogs to say hello to….if we took a pic of your pup, chances are it features in the album at the end of this post so read on!
The Chiswick House Dog Show – Doggy Brandspotting
As well as a pawsome afternoon dog-spotting it was also a great opportunity to browse the stands and pick up some doggy bargains. There were of course many of the favourites we know and love but also a couple of newcomers that we’ll be keeping our eye on. Here are our newcomer doggy brand-spots of the day…
First up is CC Bear Edibles who makes wellness based dog biscuits that are natural, organic AND vegan. I have to say the first thing that caught my eye was the gorgeous stand. The second thing that caught my eye was the queue of dogs at the sampling stand literally hoovering up the samples on offer. I had a chat with Christine who is the CC half of CC Bear (her dog Bear is the other half) and it was clear that she’s very passionate about creating healthy treats that have real benefits for dogs such as ‘Digest Best or Heart Smart’. Well, they were certainly popular with the four-legged attendees and we just loved the paw shaped ones. I picked up some for Belinha & Moleque so watch this space for a verdict!
The other stand that really stood out was The Dog Trouser Company, yes that’s right trousers for dogs. They’re not just any old trousers though they do have a purpose. Company owner Harriet told me how she came up with the idea from her Hiking Hounds business (yup, you guessed it hiking with dogs) and needed a solution to keeping the dogs clean. Yes, there are other onesie type products on the market but often these are made from a cheap plastic material which is not ideal for a dog as it can make them sweat. The Dog Trouser Company has created a solution to the dirty dog problem by creating trousers that cover the lower half of the body and are made of a waterproof, windproof and breathable material similar to what you would use for yourself in an outdoor jacket for example. They were certainly attracting a lot of attention and we were really intrigued especially as they are not just for miniature dogs but also have sizes for medium and large dogs too (yay). I feel a dog trouser feature coming on the blog….
It was a brilliant day with a fantastic turnout which is great news as the show is organised by the local community and all proceeds go to fund projects to improve the stunning Chiswick House and Gardens. Well done Chiswick House Dog Show Team, you did a pawsome job!
